Employment fact of the day: March 30, 2009

by Teri Fritsma

A little good news for unemployed Minnesotans:

1. Health care through COBRA is now a whole lot more affordable, thanks to a provision in the ARRA.

2. Unemployment benefits will be extended for up to 13 extra weeks in Minnesota, which means that unemployed Minnesotans may be eligible for up to 72 weeks of unemployment insurance.

Really glad to hear this about COBRA. Often a common question from those who lost a job. Also in Minnesota we have Minnesota Care.
