A career fair for people who want to learn about employment opportunities in the IT and high-tech fields is set for Tuesday, Nov. 5 at Rochester Community and Technical College.
The career fair is aimed at those considering a career in the high-tech or IT field, including college or high school students. More than 20 employers will be recruiting workers for job vacancies at the event.
Participants can learn about career pathways, certification options, and employment opportunities in the high-tech sector in Rochester and surrounding areas. The event includes presentations for job seekers about:
- Interviewing for IT jobs, by Anthony Hayes, business development manager at Kelly IT Resources;
- Assistance for unemployed workers from the Dislocated Worker Program, by Filiberto Chairez, employment and training program coordinator at DEED;
- Becoming an entrepreneur, by a panel of experts in small business start-ups; and
- The job outlook for IT and hi-tech professionals, by Brent Pearson, regional labor market analyst at DEED and Bruce Lindberg, executive director of Advance IT Minnesota.
